The Core Curriculum Conference Series is a structured, comprehensive educational initiative designed to cover the fundamental aspects of rheumatology and its interrelated specialties. The series will be conducted weekly every Wednesday from 8 am – 11 am. The conferences will involve a combination of lectures, case discussions, and interactive sessions led by core faculty, fellows and guest speakers.
The series will cover a broad scope of topics in rheumatology set forth by the American College of Rheumatology’s Core Curriculum Outline. These will range from osteoarthritis to systemic vasculitis and include the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of common and rare rheumatic diseases. The series will include sessions on immunology, musculoskeletal radiology including diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures, and pain management.
Regular case discussions will be integrated into the curriculum, where fellows present and analyze clinical cases seen on inpatient service or during continuity clinic. Multidisciplinary conferences will include collaborative didactics in either an in-person or hybrid virtual environment with other specialties including radiology, pathology, nephrology, pulmonology and pediatric rheumatology. Fellows will present at monthly journal clubs appraising the latest research in collaboration with their mentors. Fellows will be encouraged to actively participate, ask questions, and engage in discussions, creating a dynamic learning environment. The series will also include regular feedback from fellows and faculty to continuously improve content and delivery, ensuring that the standards of high quality and educational needs of the fellows are met.
