A Message from the Program Director:

Thank you for your interest in the ChristianaCare Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship Program. It is my pleasure to welcome physicians who have completed, or are nearing completion of, a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and are seeking advanced training in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and critical care cardiology.

As the largest health system in Delaware, ChristianaCare encompasses more than 1,400 beds and serves a diverse patient population across both suburban and urban communities. As a tertiary referral center, we provide fellows with extensive exposure to the full spectrum of advanced heart failure, including cardiogenic shock, temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support, infiltrative cardiomyopathies, pulmonary hypertension, and complex heart failure management.

Our program features dedicated, closed Cardiac Intensive Care and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Units, allowing fellows to develop expertise in the management of critically ill cardiovascular patients within a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment. This immersive experience equips our graduates with the clinical confidence and procedural skills necessary for independent practice in advanced heart failure and critical care cardiology.

In partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, fellows also gain exposure to the evaluation, selection, and longitudinal management of heart transplant patients, learning alongside leaders at one of the nation's premier transplant programs.
