ChristianaCare’s Sports Medicine Fellowship offers a fully -accredited one-year fellowship in primary care sports medicine. Started in 2007, this program is based in the family -medicine residency program that is one of the oldest in the nation. The fellowship offers solid experience in sports and recreation injuries as well as medical conditions affecting athletes and active people of all ages. Clinical exposure to sports cardiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescriptions, nutrition, sports psychology, cadaveric anatomy and musculoskeletal radiology is also incorporated into the program.

Sideline coverage, training room, and mass-participation event coverage is coordinated through the sports medicine group and our affiliate sites, including University of Delaware and local high schools. By the end of training, fellows will be able to work independently in any sports- medicine practice environment.

We accept two candidates each year who have graduated from an ACGME accredited allopathic or osteopathic program in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, or physical medicine and rehabilitation.
