Thank you for your interest in our Psychiatry Residency Program at ChristianaCare. The primary goal of our program is to deliver high quality educational experiences to our residents. Our program was inaugurated in 2018 within a vibrant, diverse nonprofit health system committed to providing care with love and excellence. Our alumni are a talented and passionate cohort, dedicated to psychiatry, psychotherapy, advocacy, and community service. Many of our graduates have continued their journey as educators within our department, contributing to the mentorship and training of future psychiatrists.
We emphasize creating a nurturing, cohesive, friendly, and collegial learning environment with an unwavering commitment to education and personal growth. Our residents are exposed to a wide variety of clinical experiences, ensuring a strong foundation in treating diverse patient populations and a broad range of psychiatric disorders. Our curriculum offers focused training in all aspects of psychiatry, including exposure to both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, preparing our trainees to become well-rounded clinicians across the full spectrum of psychiatric subspecialties. We place strong emphasis on developing the ability to critically review scientific literature and apply evidence-based principles in clinical practice. Support for resident research initiatives is readily available, and scholarly activities including poster presentations and publications are strongly encouraged throughout training.
Our faculty are dedicated educators and mentors who are deeply invested in the growth and success or our residents. We prioritize mentorship throughout training, recognizing its central role in professional development. Our trainees have successfully presented and published their work locally and nationally, and we encourage scholarly engagement alongside clinical growth.
We also prioritize resident wellness and resilience. Initiatives like our Resident Wellness Committee, annual retreat, social events, and wellness-focused activities are just a few ways we support your well-being throughout your residency. Our leadership maintains a walk in policy, reflecting our belief that residents are valued as colleagues and future leaders in the field. In addition, we hold monthly program meeting where we meet with residents, and they are asked to share their feedback to make us better every day.
We are delighted you are considering joining our community and we look forward to meeting with you.
Best wished and good luck,
Narpinder Malhi, MD
