Message from the Associate Program Directors

Psychiatry Residency Program

Welcome to our Psychiatry Residency Program. As the Associate Program Director, I’m proud to share the unique strengths that define our training experience. One of our key highlights is the integration of advanced neuromodulation techniques, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), providing residents with firsthand exposure to cutting-edge interventions for treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions. Our inpatient psychiatric unit offers robust training in managing medically complex patients within a diverse and underserved population, sharpening clinical skills through collaborative care in a high-acuity environment. Academically, our program fosters a rigorous foundation in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and neurobiology, delivered through a dynamic and interactive curriculum.

Equally integral to our program is a strong emphasis on research and scholarly inquiry. Residents are trained to critically evaluate research literature and integrate findings into evidence-based clinical practice. We support a wide spectrum of research opportunities, from case reports and systematic reviews to retrospective real-world data analysis—empowering residents to explore nuanced clinical questions while refining their understanding of research design and methodology. Our commitment is to cultivate not only skilled clinicians but also thoughtful scholars who contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of psychiatry.

As an Associate Program Director of Christiana Care’s Psychiatry Residency Program, I’m deeply committed to creating a training experience that balances clinical excellence with genuine human connection. Our residents are more than trainees — they’re valued members of a close-knit, collaborative team. We offer exposure to a wide range of psychiatric settings and patient populations, all within a program that prioritizes mentorship, wellness, and your individual growth as a physician and person. At Christiana Care, we believe in nurturing not only your medical knowledge but your purpose and passion as a physician and psychiatrist.

What I love most about our program is watching residents find their voices, grow in confidence, and leave their mark on the community we serve. We are a program that listens, adapts, and evolves — and we’re excited to welcome those who bring curiosity, compassion, and a desire to make a difference. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be supported, challenged, and inspired every day, I invite you to explore what makes Christiana Care a special place to train and grow.
