We offer a two-week evening virtual elective on weekdays via an online platform (usually end July-beginning August). The program includes multiple 30-minute sessions led by the Med-Peds program faculty and residents. These sessions cover clinical talks in medicine and pediatrics, mentorship moments with key leaders, experiential learning with residents, and cohort bonding activities.
Goals and Objectives:
Students will gain a deeper understanding into Med-Peds as a profession as well as the career opportunities available. Students will also receive didactics in common and interesting pathologies encountered as a Med-Peds physician both inpatient and outpatient. Students will receive group and individual guidance with journey of residency applications and form strong community of Med-Peds students nationally.
Course Description:
Virtual elective held after hours to expose students to different Med-Peds faculty members and residents at ChristianaCare/Nemours as well as nationally with a panel discussion. They will have about 3 sessions each evening with providers and faculty from inpatient, outpatient, and leadership (including program director and associate program director). All sessions will have didactics as well as interactive portion. There will be 2 panel discussions, one with Med-Peds residents (locally and nationally), one with Med-Peds leadership (PDs, APDs-locally and nationally) with Q&A. Each student will also be offered 1:1 mentorship meeting with course director(s).
