We offer MS-4 students (1-2 at a time) a 2-week elective (based on availability, student interest and time of year- generally July – September) to work with our residents and faculty in multiple outpatient and inpatient settings.
Goals and Objectives:
The student will demonstrate an understanding of the most encountered conditions on adults and children in the outpatient and hospital settings. Students will learn the advantages and disadvantages of choosing a combined residency program and what Med-Peds offers to patients and the health care system.
Course Description:
Students will work with Med-Peds faculty (including the program director and other Med-Peds leadership) and residents in both the outpatient (including general primary care of the entire age spectrum, the resident continuity Med-Peds practice, and the Center for Special Health Care Needs) and inpatient (Med-Peds attending hospitalist service for special health care needs patients and other patients) settings in order to assess if the combined specialty makes for a potential career path. This rotation takes place at ChristianaCare in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware.
