Application Process (As of July 17, 2020)
We understand these are extraordinary times and the stress the application and match process has placed on you this year. We want to make sure you are familiar with our process.
Our Med-Peds Program accepts applications only through ERAS. The deadline to submit an application is January 15, 2021 although the vast majority of our students selected to interview or be placed on our waiting list will occur late October through early November. It is prudent to submit whatever material you can before October 21, 2020 to have your application initially reviewed. Our interviews (video only) will occur from November – January. If you feel you are unable to meet this application deadline, please notify the residency program director at email@example.com.
Letters of Recommendation:
A minimum of three letters of recommendation from physicians directly involved with the applicant must be submitted before we have our rank meeting, February 8, 2021. However:
For students that have completed both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics clerkships and/or Sub-I rotations please include 1 or more letters from each department. We do not require Chair letters or letters from Combined Med-Peds physicians.
For students missing rotations in either Internal Medicine or Pediatrics, you can initially submit a letter(s) from either Internal Medicine or Pediatrics. If possible, the additional letter(s) from the other specialty can be submitted later, prior to an interview, if selected. Please contact the residency program director at firstname.lastname@example.org if you anticipate difficulty in providing the additional letter, we may be able to provide an extension of submission to the time of our rank meeting, February 8, 2021. We do not require Chair letters or letters from Combined Med-Peds physicians.
USMLE and COMLEX
We require both Step 1 and 2 scores either USMLE or COMLEX by the time of rank list are due unless that test is officially cancelled and the test cannot be taken. Osteopathic students are not required to take both COMLEX and USMLE.
Application Review: All applications are carefully reviewed and decisions for interviews are based upon the composite qualifications of the applicant.
Our residents, faculty and leadership are open to continued dialogue/questions with applicants after the interview day but it is not a requirement. For those applicants that choose not to have continued dialogue/questions will not be penalized.
