A 1,000 bed, 1.3-million-square-foot, modern facility in Newark, Delaware. ChristianaCare provides a level of care only available in large-scale teaching centers. ChristianaCare includes Delaware’s only Level I trauma center (as verified by the American College of Surgeons), which is prepared to handle the most extreme medical emergencies for adults and children. In fact, it is the only Level I trauma center on the East Coast corridor between Baltimore and Philadelphia. The nationally recognized Center for Heart and Vascular Health, Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute, and Women’s Health services are located on the ChristianaCare campus. ChristianaCare has 26 operating rooms (including a four-room advanced videoscopy suite), and a 10 operating room SurgiCenter.

A Wilmington landmark since 1890, fully modernized Wilmington Hospital provides ChristianaCare’s distinguished, high-quality health care in the heart of Wilmington. This 321-bed, 622,100-square-foot facility currently includes: an Emergency Department and helipad with aero-medical transport capabilities, the Center for Rehabilitation, the Center for Advanced Joint Replacement, outpatient primary care services, behavioral health, memory care at the nearby Swank Memory Care Center, and more. Wilmington Hospital has 13 operating rooms, and a six operating room SurgiCenter.

Advanced Simulation Training for Any Scenario

ChristianaCare’s Virtual Education and Simulation Training Center is a state-of-the-art, 9,000 square foot training facility that allows residents and all health care staff at ChristianaCare to experience realistic scenarios with computer-controlled manikins that breathe, speak, blink their eyes and respond to stimuli. A range of laparoscopic and robotic simulators are available for resident training.

The Virtual Education and Simulation Training Center is outfitted to function like a hospital, complete with a trauma bay, intensive care unit, operating room and standardized patient rooms.

During your residency, you’ll learn to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, take advantage of our new state-of-the-art simulation center, and learn the skills of quality improvement in an award-winning 12-week course offered only at our institution.
