Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

Fellowships

Christiana Care’s Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship offers a two-year program in advanced minimally invasive surgery which has been approved by the Board of Fellowship in Gynecologic Endoscopy and sponsored by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). The program is designed to provide intensive training in hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, single port access, robotic gynecologic procedures and office surgery procedures, for board certified or board eligible graduates of ob/gyn residency programs. The two years are structured to facilitate the fellow’s training to emphasize clinical activity as a junior faculty member, to initiate and perform research, and to participate in didactic education with all members of the department, as well as a link to the outstanding attendings of our subspecialty Divisions of Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology as well as the Department of Surgery.

Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery fellows are expected to attend, participate and present in the ob/gyn didactic sessions and conferences. Fellows are required to complete a scholarly contribution to be presented at the annual meetings of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and/or American Society of Reproductive Medicine, as well as to the department.

Christiana Care Health System, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology supports the mission of our department to continue our interest in the minimally invasive gynecologic surgery approach to gynecologic conditions and to promote this training on a fellowship level.

The Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship is located in Newark, Delaware. The primary inpatient site is Christiana Care Health System. Our outpatient clinical sites are located at the Christiana Hospital, and Wilmington Hospital.
