Inpatient Pharmacy Services utilize a mixed decentralized and satellite-based pharmacy model. Most drug distribution is automated, using Robot-Rx for cart fill and unit-based cabinets for narcotic and floor stock drug control.
The Department of Pharmacy utilizes a paperless order management system (POMS) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) to process inpatient medication orders and subsequent posting of medications to an electronic medication administration record (eMAR). ChristianaCare uses a full suite of electronic medical records.
Both the Christiana Hospital Pharmacy and the Wilmington Hospital Pharmacy operate 24 hours a day.
